Introduction
Zoho Creator Version 5 was released on 26th March 2018.
The major release of the product revamped the entire product and is now called Zoho Creator 5(ZC5) .

The older version is known as Zoho Creator 4(ZC4).
What is App Migration?
App migration is the process of upgrading an existing App created in an older version of Zoho Creator (ZC4 or older versions) to the latest version of Zoho Creator (ZC5).
Why to migrate the Apps?
Even though the look and feel of the older Apps in the environment are changed to Zoho Creator 5, the inherent setting and configurations are retained as per ZC4.
This may cause a problem later, if the App is either updated or any new configuration added.
Things to consider when Migrating an App
1. Zoho/Third-Party API Integrations dependency
2. User Privileges - Roles and Permissions
3. Customer Portal
4. Published Forms/Reports/Pages
5. Moving existing Data
Zoho/Third-Party API Integrations dependency
When migrating a Zoho creator App, look out for the API source code written inside the application for integration between Zoho applications as well as other third party applications.
Check If the code is compatible with the current version of Zoho Creator.

User Privileges - Roles and Permissions
If the App to be migrated contains any existing Users of different hierarchies/roles, their configuration has to be set up afresh in the App.
Customer Portal
The Customer portal settings have additionally been revamped so all the permissions and setting has to be done newly (once the App is migrated successfully).

Published Forms/Reports/Pages
The published Form/Reports/Pages in the application have to be validated after the migration of the App, to ensure the publish status is still intact for the Form/Reports/Pages.
Moving existing Data
Back up of the data has to be done before migrating to new version. The moving of existing data into the new App is tricky depending upon the complexity and the size of the existing application.
