Zoho Creator lets organization to allow its customers to login to their dedicated internal system and access restricted data via Customer Portal.
Introduction
Customer Portal in Zoho Creator is a unique portal created for each application. The portal can be used by the customer to view, edit and submit data into the App. Zoho Creator Portal App is also available for mobile devices which can be downloaded from Play Store and App Store.
Use Case
Let's take a scenario where customers need to access an App by Signing up. Upon a successful sign up, valid credentials are set, which allows them to access the App via the Customer Portal. Note that the customer does not need to have a Zoho Creator Account for doing the same.
Adding Customers
The Customers can be provided access for the App by the below mentioned ways.
To start with, you have to make the portal as public/private and share the URL for the customers to sign up directly.
For adding one customer at a time within the application settings, click Add Customers to select/add their email id.
For adding many customers, the Import Customers facility is available. This will send email notifications to those email ids mentioned in the file.
The email has the details of the Sign-up link as well as password set/reset.
The Invitation email content can be edited as per your requirement.
Sign up Page& Customization
The default Sign up page in Zoho Creator for customer portal is a pre-built template (below). However, this can be customized according to the requirements.
Roles & Permissions
Based on the views or edits to be made in the app for an external customer, the roles and permissions can be set up. Upon setting the same, the customers will have their exclusive record access only.
Activating/Deactivating Customers
In the Customer Portal Setting of Zoho Creator, the different states of signed up customers are shown. Based on the status, actions can be taken by the administrator.
Conclusion
